Vein-preserving therapy
When venous insufficiency develops, congestion initially forms in the vein, leading to overstretching . This overstretching prevents the valve leaflets from reaching each other, and blood flow reverses . From this moment on, a vicious cycle begins, as the backflow leads to increased congestion, which damages other venous valves. Therefore, the disease progresses slowly but steadily, and after years of improper strain, normal veins eventually become varicose veins.

Since 2013, it has been possible to remodel overstretched valve zones with hyaluronic acid gel to restore healthy flow (injection venoplasty). This is the first method that offers complete vein preservation and long-term healing prospects without surgery. A special ultrasound examination („morphological and functional venous valve analysis“) determines suitability. This treatment was developed and perfected by Dr. Ragg. It is offered exclusively in Zurich by Dr. Ragg in Switzerland .
