Adhesive Techniques for Veins

Currently, there are two approved methods in Europe: VenaSeal (Covidien) and VariClose (Biolas). VenaSeal uses a more resin-like adhesive, while VariClose’s is more liquid. Both systems can reliably close diseased veins. The advantage is that the veins are immediately and permanently closed off. This effect only gradually occurs after radiofrequency or sclerotherapy. Adhesion is advantageous for some forms of “truncal vein insufficiency” (long, straight collecting veins) as it provides a tangible and visible immediate result. Compression stockings are no longer required after treatment.
Dr. Ragg: “I have been testing adhesive techniques on veins since 2009, which is the longest European experience with vein adhesives. I myself hold two current patents for vein adhesion,
which focus on bio-adhesives . Patients from Switzerland can therefore trust me in Zurich for good professional advice.”
